Animation Trial

Okay, this is not working out as I would have liked. I think I'm going to be forced to make the outer layer of skin. This just doesn't seem to be working.

Animation Trial Idea

Here is a trial idea for the toad animation. It's getting there.

Model Is Done

The model is finally done. Now on to rigging and animating. Updates to come!

Face is Funky

Okay, almost done but the face is not what I was intending to have. Gonna tweak it some more, and then I'll be ready to animate!

Made More Changes

Here are some much more highly developed feet and hands. Face is the only thing left.

Made Some Changes

I made a few changes that I thought would better the model. Take a look.

Chimera Update

Here is where my model stands for my Surinam Toad chimera.

Newest Chimera: Surinam Toad

I have finally decided on my next chimera. I chose to use the Surinam Toad.

For more information on this toad, click on this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Surinam_toad

I have chosen this animal primarily because of it's unique reproductive habits. This creature literally gives birth through the mother's back. I am interested in the idea of carrying children and parenthood. Humans care for their children until they are ready to care for themselves. The Surinam Toad is similar in that they literally carry their children and provide nourishment for them through the skin until the offspring are developed into functioning toads from tadpoles. The child is completely dependent on the parent, and in a way acts like a leech. I think this will be a fascinating project to pursue.

My Luminus Deer

Here is my finished project for the Luminous Deer exhibition.

Full Walk Cycle

Here is my fully functioning walk cycle. I am hoping to add at least two other animations that can be spliced together in different orders.

Legs Done

The legs are finished on the walk cycle. Now to finish the back, head and tail.

Walk Cycle In Progress

Here's what I have working so far. More to come very soon.

Almost done rigging. Animation is in progress. Here is a trial photo, along with last minute changes to the model.

An Update on the Luminous Deer

Here are a few pics showing my progress over the last week. Working on rigging at the moment.

Progress on Luminated Deer

Here is a pic of the deer model as it was on Monday night. I will post a much more current pic when I am done tweaking the model for tonight.

Please note that the deer is going to be shown in white silhouette on black, so the detail in the model is going to be as minimal as possible. At the moment, I am simply trying to find a way to model the deer so that it will be able to move well once it is rigged.

First Documented Trial Run of Projection

Here are some pictures from the first documented trial run with the projector. It's working pretty well. But now, I have many more questions to answer.

Should I...

-create a texture for the model?
-animate the jaw to open and close?
-eliminate the hair of the model?
-use white hose on the face of the subject, or keep the face bare?

I'm not sure what the answers are yet.

Changes To Jaw and Face Structure

I made a few changes and think it looks a little better now. The jaw NEEDED to be wider.

Mouth-Full of Teeth

Meant to post this on Saturday night. Here is my Chimera with a mouth-full of teeth. I think they came out rather well. Still working on the surrounding mouth area.

Trial Teeth

This is just a trial to see if this way of making teeth will work. The teeth look a little small, but I bet I can scale them to be larger.

Camera Angle Is Screwed Up

For some reason, the camera angle that I have set up is not depicting what the model actually looks like. It almost makes it look like you are viewing the model with a fish-eye lens. Well, to solve this, I've taken a screenshot. Hopefully this will show what the model ACTUALLY looks like.

Mouth Agape

So far the mouth is going okay. I hope to have some wrinkles around the mouth to show how far the skin has stretched back. Not exactly sure how to do that, but we'll see. Once the mouth is done I'll be on to the teeth. And once the teeth are done, the I can go on to posing the head and beginning the process of animation.

Some Problems Fixed

Hey. So I fixed a few hair things. But I still have more to correct. At least it's progressing...

Trouble Continues

Still having the same trouble I mentioned before.

Having Trouble

This model has been super difficult to make. The hair is the worst. It is so hard to make it appear to be relatively free-flowing. More on the way.

Update

Definitely a work in progress.

More Hair

This hair is hard. Very hard. It is hard to turn a glob of modeling matter into something that appears to flow. Still trying to figure out how to do that. More to come.

Hair Continuation

Adding Hair

The hair has proved to be much more difficult than I had initially anticipated. This is what it looks like so far. Major improvements to come!

Update on the Model

Here are a few images of the progress I've made on the model. These are not excruciatingly recent.

Concept Drawings

Here are some of the concept drawings I did for the Anglerfish Chimera.

The Woman

I think I want the woman-half of my Chimera to look like a mix between Michelle Pfeiffer and Lauren Bacall. They both have beautiful, yet seductive faces. I think they will be more than appropriate for my Chimera. I may lean more on the side of Michelle Pfeiffer, though.

What to Avoid in Developing Anglerfish Chimera

I realized a few days ago that my idea for a Chimera that is half woman half anglerfish could get a little tricky. More because I don't want my chimera to end up looking like Mileena from Mortal Kombat. I don't think this will happen, but I want to be careful nonetheless.
